Josette Brennan serves as a committed and detail-oriented Paralegal in the Debt Collection team, working closely with Bea Belonio to ensure efficient case management and superior client service. With a perfectionist mindset and a natural aptitude for organisation, Josette brings a methodical and independent approach to her role, backed by a strong academic foundation in law.
In her role as a Paralegal, Josette is responsible for editing and drafting legal documents such as General Procedure Claims, Means Inquiry and Default Inquiry applications, affidavits, and correspondence for clients, debtors, and the court. She also prepares files for hearings and regularly attends Means and Default Inquiries at the Magistrates Court alongside Bea, with the aim of eventually handling these hearings independently.
Josette’s dedication to her craft extends beyond Curae Law. She regularly volunteers at the Subiaco Justice Centre, a community legal centre, as a Legal Assistant. In this role, she provides general secretarial support to volunteer lawyers, greets clients, takes notes during appointments, and assists with the ongoing management of client files.
Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor at the University of Western Australia, Josette is in her first year of postgraduate law studies. Balancing part-time study with her professional responsibilities, she exemplifies a disciplined and focused work ethic.
Outside of work and academics, Josette’s love for music, literature, and dance has been a constant in her life. Although her focus shifted to academics in later school years, her passion for creativity remains evident in her love for fiction and fantasy literature, with Normal People being a particular favourite.
A fan of early mornings despite being a natural night owl, Josette starts her day with Pilates before heading to work. She finds joy in nostalgic moments listening to the Beatles, a band she admired during her childhood. Her sharp mind, vibrant personality, and well-rounded interests contribute immensely to her success, both at Curae Law and in her academic pursuits.
