Nigel Siegwart leads the firm’s litigation and dispute resolution team. He acts in deceased estate litigation, family provision claims, contract and construction disputes and trust and property matters.

Nigel’s first job on a dispute is working out what is actually driving it, which often isn’t what the paperwork says. He’ll tell you early what stands in your way rather than letting you find out at the door of the court.

He is practical about the rest. A dispute is worth running if what you get at the end justifies what it costs to get there. Nigel will tell you where that line sits before you commit to it. Complex facts with awkward quirks in them are the ones he takes on by choice.

Nigel works closely with ContactsLaw, the firm’s technology partner, on systems that bring the cost of a matter down and keep the quality up. He also led the development of the firm’s debt collection service, GetPaid Debt Collection.

Nigel received a New Colombo Plan Scholarship and spent 2017 studying at Renmin University of China in Beijing and at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as travelling the Asia-Pacific region.

Nigel scuba dives, runs and races triathlons. He has competed in the Avon Descent for several years, which tells you most of what you need to know about his appetite for a long and difficult challenge!
